WEATHER NOTE: Winter Storms moving through Mohave County from Friday March 14th till 19th 2024. Additional mountain ice & snow expected.
March 22, 2024 Wecom Fiber crew conducted a survey trip towards the Hayden Peak sites and reported that heavy slushy snow conditions persist at the base of the upper switchbacks. Snow is starting to melt but is still deep in places.
Hayden Peak: 03/18/2024 Snow vehicle access only. 6′ – 24″ inch drift bases at various locations. Snowcat vehicles should be accompanied by a snow shovel crew and standby backup/recovery response. Snow consistency is powdery to semi-hard with developing drifts during storms. No attempt to reach the upper sites should be done by a single individual especially at night regardless of the outage emergency.
Black Mesa: Snow vehicle access only. 6″ to 12″ inches of soft melting snow.
Potato Patch: 02/15/2024 Snow vehicle access only. 6″ to 8″ inches of soft melting snow.
Getz Peak: 01/17/2024. Up to switch backs-enhanced 4X4. Snow vehicle access only above switchback.
OATMAN MOUNTAIN: February 12, 2024 USE CAUTION
Road is rocky with ruts and erosion areas. Wet weather conditions will cause traction slip hazards beginning on steep climb approximately 300 yards past the security gate. Large tire 4X4 with at least 10 inches clearance recommended. Caution – sections of the road are narrow on the downhill side due to water drainage/erosion. Watch for erosion conditions, diches and rocks. Additional observations are needed. Please report any conditions in the posting portal below.
